1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Financial Autopsy ("the Service", "we", "us"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These terms apply to all users of the Service, including visitors, registered users, and anyone who accesses or uses any part of Financial Autopsy.

2. Service description

Financial Autopsy is a personal finance analysis tool that allows you to:

• Upload bank statement files (CSV, OFX) for transaction analysis
• Categorize, tag, and organize your transaction history
• View spending summaries, trends, and anomaly detection
• Define automated categorization rules for recurring transactions
• Use an AI-powered chat interface to query and analyze your financial data

3. User responsibilities

You agree to:

• Provide a valid email address and a secure password when registering
• Keep your account credentials confidential and not share access with others
• Use the Service only for lawful personal finance management purposes
• Upload only files that you own or have the right to process
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service or its APIs
• Not upload files containing data that belongs to other individuals without their consent

4. Responsibility for uploaded data

Users are solely responsible for any files or data uploaded to the Service.

By uploading financial data, you represent and warrant that:

• you own the data, or
• you have the legal right and permission to process the data through the Service.

You agree not to upload financial information belonging to other individuals without their consent. Financial Autopsy is not responsible for disputes arising from improperly uploaded data.

5. Your data

You retain full ownership of all financial data you upload to Financial Autopsy. By uploading data, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process that data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

• We do not sell your data to any third party
• We do not use your financial data for advertising or profiling
• AI chat features transmit relevant context to OpenAI's API — see our Privacy Policy for details
• You may request deletion of all your data at any time — see the Privacy Policy for the deletion process

6. AI processing

Certain features of Financial Autopsy use artificial intelligence services provided by third-party providers.

When AI features are used, limited contextual data may be transmitted to these providers solely to generate responses. Financial Autopsy does not use your financial data to train external AI models.

7. Disclaimers

Financial Autopsy is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

• Not financial advice — the Service is a data organization and analysis tool. Nothing on Financial Autopsy constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Always consult a qualified professional for financial decisions.
• AI accuracy — AI-generated responses in the chat feature may contain errors or inaccuracies. Do not rely solely on AI output for financial decisions.
• Data accuracy — transaction categorization and anomaly detection are automated and may not be 100% accurate. You are responsible for verifying your financial records.
• Service availability — we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free access to the Service.

8. AI-generated output

Financial Autopsy provides AI-powered tools that generate insights and responses based on uploaded transaction data.

AI-generated outputs:

• may contain inaccuracies or incomplete information
• should be considered informational only
• should not be relied upon as the sole basis for financial decisions

Users remain responsible for verifying financial information and making their own financial decisions. Financial Autopsy does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated responses.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Financial Autopsy and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data or profits arising from your use or inability to use the Service
• Financial losses resulting from reliance on Service output or AI responses
• Unauthorized access to your account due to your own failure to maintain credential security
• Any interruption or cessation of Service transmission

In jurisdictions that do not allow exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months prior to the claim.

10. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
• Upload malicious files or attempt to exploit the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service or its related systems
• Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download data from the Service
• Impersonate any other user or person

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you disagree with any changes, you should stop using the Service and may request account deletion.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time by contacting support@financialautopsy.com.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our discretion, including if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms. We will endeavor to provide notice where feasible.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions of these terms that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply (including sections on data, disclaimers, and liability).
